Visitor Development Officer

Reference number: A5010119

Location: Cumbria

Are you passionate about nature and with an entrepreneurial streak? We are looking for someone to develop a range of visitor focused income generating initiatives at Haweswater in the Lake District.

We believe that Haweswater offers something a unique in the Lake District. Quieter and wilder, it offers opportunities for engagement with nature not currently available elsewhere in the National Park.

Over the past year the team at Haweswater have trialled a number of initiatives, ranging from a programme of guided walks to pop-up hotels. It will be your job to continue to develop and promote these and other initiatives so that they become a reliable income stream, supporting the reserve operation and enabling us to deliver more for nature.

Based at our office at Haweswater, you will work closely with the Haweswater site manager, farm staff and wardens, as well as network of external partners.

This is a new role and a new way of working at Haweswater and so we will need you to be well organised and record all of the finances and other measures of success associated with your activities. There is the potential for the role to be extended if the model of low volume, high value initiatives can be shown to meet financial targets.

As well being out on site, leading walks and events, we will also expect you to help promote them using a range of media.

Please see "Additional Information" for more detail about Haweswater and this exciting opportunity.

This role is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. You will be asked to declare unspent convictions and cautions at offer of employment stage.
