Assistant Warden - North Isles

Reference number: A4990119

Location: Orkney

RSPB Scotland is looking for assistant warden for the North Hill and Noup Cliffs reserves on the islands of Papa Westray and Westray in Orkney. This is an exciting opportunity to join our Orkney team and work with some iconic species and stunning habitats. Both sites have important seabird colonies and the North Hill maritime heath is also home to the delicate Scottish primrose.

We are looking for an organised and conscientious person who is passionate about delivering our conservation and face-to-face targets for these reserves.

Your office base will be in Papa Westray, with frequent visits and some overnight stays on Westray and Orkney Mainland required to ensure that the work programme is delivered.

The successful candidate will be very self-motivated and will have a track record of community engagement, monitoring work, data handling, infrastructure maintenance and visitor work.

Accommodation is available. The post holder will predominantly work typical office hours (Mon-Fri 9-5) though by nature of the job will require work outside these times and occasional night-time survey work required.

This role is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. You will be asked to declare unspent convictions and cautions at offer of employment stage.
