Assistant Buyer

We are looking for an Assistant Buyer to join the RSPB Trading team at our Headquarters to assist the Product Manager for Bird food, Bird care and Optics. This is an amazing opportunity to work for the largest wildlife conservation organisation in Europe. Here at the RSPB we strive to care for the environment and save nature. As a member of the trading team you will be helping to raise significant funds through the sale of our products for the RSPB and the wildlife it protects.

This role involves supporting the Product Manager to source and develop product ranges, that assist in meeting the financial and strategic objectives of the Trading business.

As Assistant Buyer you will need to be organised, a strong team player, able to interpret sales data in order to influence decisions about range development, have strong communication skills and experience with Microsoft Office. You will also be expected to negotiate with preferred suppliers as well as liaise with internal stakeholders.

The successful applicant will be able to manage daily administrative tasks as well as ensuring that Trading databases are maintained and kept up to date.

Some experience in a retail procurement would be desirable but is not essential. This role is a good opportunity to develop skills in buying and product management.

This role is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. You will be asked to declare unspent convictions and cautions at offer of employment stage.

Salary starting at

£17,276 to £18,716 per annum

Hours: Full time
Contract: Permanent
