Consumer PR Manager

Reference number: A5240119

Location: Bedfordshire

The RSPB is Europe's largest wildlife conservation charity with a whole heap of stories just waiting to fly.
We're looking for a PR and Communications expert to lead on the strategic development of the RSPB's presence in national consumer media channels in an authentic and engaging way which supports our overall priorities and objectives. You will be responsible for designing and managing the work programme of a small but highly effective team which pitches stories to print, broadcast and online media spanning multiple audiences. You will need to demonstrate experience of planning, managing and delivering PR in support of major projects, campaigns and initiatives in a creative way whilst protecting and leveraging our external reputation. No two days or stories will be the same and it is a fast-paced environment. You could be enthusing the public about puffins, nature reserves and bird food one minute and then looking for consumer-friendly elements of a scientific paper or responding to a government decision the next.
Previous knowledge of wildlife is helpful but not essential - we can teach you that. What you must have is a strategic can-do attitude, with an intuitive ability to change tack, timings or messaging and buckets of enthusiasm! This role is available on a full time or part time basis.

This role is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. You will be asked to declare unspent convictions and cautions at offer of employment stage.
