Community and Social Media Manager

Reporting into the Product Owner for Community and Social Media, this role will play a vital part in establishing a two-way conversational relationship with our supporters, key influencers/decision makers as well as our detractors.

Your understanding of the role social media has to play in engaging our online audiences and in assisting the product owner to provide the platforms, governance, standards and expertise with which the business more widely can utilise social media for communications, influencing and engagement purposes is hugely critical, as is your keen interest in the external trends of social media supporting the RSPB to develop roadmaps that enable continuous improvement and relevancy for our audiences.

You will have a good understanding of the risks, both reputationally and technologically of our social media and community channels and be able to manage pro-active and re-active responses to mitigating these risks, through contributing to strategic thinking long term and providing directional/facilitative leadership tactically day to day.

You will work as a part of the Community and Social Media team, and often be required to be a part of a team of cross-functional colleagues ensuring that where social media has a role to play in our integrated communications, the needs and objectives of the channel can be met. You will often be required to set channel objectives and targets for large integrated communications campaigns and will be accountable for the planning of regular contextually relevant communications that keep our channel audiences engaged, as well as spotting opportunities to engage more widely in trending online discussions.

The role holder must have the ability to negotiate and collaborate effectively with stakeholders of all levels moving easily between various layers of the business and respond flexibly to the changing needs of the organisation in support of its income, conservation and engagement requirements.

Salary starting at

£29,507 to £31,425 per annum
