Location: Norwich Office / Berney Marshes and Breydon Water

Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of agri-environment support in England. We are looking for a part time Conservation Advisor to support the delivery of a 14-month Defra funded project that aims to determine whether the data generated through self-assessment is of sufficient quality to complement the scientific monitoring of a new environmental land management scheme.

About the project
This project forms part of a wider programme of 'test and trials' being run by Defra to engage with stakeholders and inform the design of the post Brexit environmental land management system in England.

The purpose of this trial is to determine whether the data generated through self-assessment is of sufficient quality to complement the scientific monitoring of a plan based environmental land management scheme and support the verification of results-based payments. In addition, the trial will seek to determine farmer attitudes towards self-assessment and its potential role in a payment by results approach.

The post-holder will be responsible for fostering close links with the farming community in the project area in the Norfolk Boards. Excellent communication skills will be essential as a core element of the role will be to provide farmland advice and run training sessions. The successful candidate will have excellent ecological experience and monitoring skills. A good understanding of farming systems and how these can deliver benefits for biodiversity is also be essential.
