About the role

The RSPB People Strategy sets out our people vision and our plans for how we are going to get there. To save nature we can only do this through supporting, equipping and motivating our workforce (employees and volunteers). We are undertaking activities of work to enable the RSPB to be a more diverse workforce so to better understand and support the communities we work in.

You'll be working with stakeholders from across Great Britain and Northern Ireland to plan and deliver work in an agile hand on approach to respond to the emerging needs of our workforce. Working closely and collaboratively with our specialist colleagues, particularly in Learning and Development and Internal Communications this will include ways of working, engagement, systems and processes to benefit wider organisational newly formed teams and managers.

The People Programme team are dispersed throughout the RSPB and we work remotely, with each other and stakeholders, on a daily basis. We are flexible about location but there will be requirements to travel to The Lodge, RSPB headquarters. Our headquarters are set within the Lodge Nature Reserve and gardens, 220 hectares of woodland, heath and acid grassland which now form the largest stretch of heathland in Bedfordshire.

The successful candidate will support a Senior Project Manager and Senior Programme Manager in projects and activities within the People Programme to bring to life the People Strategy and support RSPB 2030.

About you

You'll be responsible for delivering projects and working closely to collaborate with our workforce (staff and volunteers) across the UK. As an experienced and proactive Project Manager, you'll be used to working at pace within strategic projects and managing a number of deliverables whilst ensuring that they meet our internal requirements. You'll excel at communicating and engaging with colleagues and stakeholders at a variety of levels and confident in articulating project needs with Senior Management to drive and manage positive change.

Experience of working with stakeholders to consult and identify requirements, you'll be able to manage and maintain their support and engagement throughout the project's lifetime and highlight emerging risks and issues, advising on mitigation, to the appropriate Board.

You will have a desire to embed new ways of working, with an experience of coordinating and undertaking project reviews, including workshops, to identify and deliver lessons learnt which contribute to ongoing improvement of project and governance standards within the RSPB.

Salary starting at

£25,463 to £27,585 per annum - Applicants should expect under normal circumstances to receive an offer at the bottom of the advertised range
