Senior Digital Production Manager

This role will be responsible for the Project Management of small to complex Projects and Programmes across the Technology Portfolio of work. This role's primary objective will stretch beyond the delivery of a project on time and on budget to also include delivering quality experiences across internal and external systems, meaning that our effective project management is also judged on how well our technology projects succeed against business aims.

Digital Technology within the RSPB is developing a progressive and forward-looking culture that will focus on using the best of current practice and technology to provide the most efficient solutions with the most engaging experience for our users.

This role has a key part to play in developing that culture within the teams that deliver our work to ensure that rather than 'do it the way it's always been done', that we use imagination and innovation and that we strive to constantly improve what we deliver and how we deliver it.

The work is expected to be wide ranging covering a variety of technologies, systems, developments and business change. It will be delivered using Waterfall, or increasingly Agile, or a hybrid of the two as required.

The role holder must have the ability to negotiate effectively and respond flexibly to the changing needs of the project and business owners; managing expectations and communicating clearly to ensure scope, timings and outcomes are understood by all.

The role includes line management of one or more Junior and / or Middleweight Digital Production Managers


You will:

Have experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams to deliver multiple and / or complex projects and Programmes, using recognised project management principles and practices (Prince 2, APM, RSPB Project Management Framework) using Waterfall, Agile and Hybrid methodologies.

Actively promote and demonstrate a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within project teams, to stakeholders and the wider organisation, around methodologies, ways of working and solutions.

With user experience at the forefront, proactively communicate 'the bigger picture' and collaborate with other teams to identity and realise opportunities to ensure maximum and coherent benefit to the organisation of project deliveries.

Demonstrate and lead focus, accountability, reliability and high performance within the project team and supporting functions.

Have excellent complex problem-solving skills together with a willingness to constantly evaluate and adapt as needed.

Develop and maintain productive working relationships with excellent internal and external communication and senior stakeholder management skills.

Ensure awareness of and commitment to adherence with compliance, standards and best practices.

Line manage, coach, mentor and develop one or more junior team members.

Salary starting at

£34,643 to £37,530 per annum - Applicants should expect under normal circumstances to receive an offer at the bottom of the advertised range
