Finance Officer Southern England

Do you have a flair for analysing financial information, overseeing budgets and working with others to get the most from limited resources? We are looking for a Finance Officer to support the RSPB's operational managers across Southern England, delivering our mission to give nature a home.

This role will be responsible for providing comprehensive business support for financial and budget processes and will be the main point of contact for the Finance Business Partner on all major budget and forecast queries.

You will need to work closely with budget managers across the RSPB's Southern England team and take a flexible approach to ensure that financial support requirements are met across operating areas.

Some of the key responsibilities will include: co-ordinating and supporting the timely receipt of budget forecasts; managing budget spreadsheets and working with budget holders at regular review and forecast deadlines; providing timely and accurate information in support of the Operations Director and their Leadership team; co-ordinating the year-end financial process and annual accounts, including grant accruals and carry forwards; and assisting Project Managers in establishing processes to monitor against the budgets for major projects and providing support with the submission of claims for external grant income.

You will need to develop and nurture effective working relationships with people at all levels and ensure confidential and sensitive financial matters are handled professionally.

This position can be based in any of our main Southern England offices, in London, Brighton or Exeter. The role is 0.6 full time equivalent, meaning an average of 3 days per week, although we expect this to flex occasionally in response to peaks in workload, for instance at the end of the financial year.

Salary starting at

£17,276 to £18,716 Per Annum (Pro Rata)

Hours: Part time, 22.5 hours per week (0.6 FTE)
Contract: Permanent
