Orkney Native Wildlife Project Education Officer

The Orkney Native Wildlife Project is looking for someone with a passion for teaching and outdoor learning to help us protect Orkney's native wildlife. You will also have experience of working with local communities in a collaborative and sensitive way.

We need an effective and creative communicator with experience of delivering outdoor education as well as classroom-based sessions. You will also have experience of designing curriculum-based activities ideally involving nature or the environment and turning complex subject areas into fun and engaging learning.

Key to the role will be setting up and facilitating a Young Rangers youth group to become ambassadors for Orkney's native wildlife to ensure the legacy of the project as well as experience training and supporting teachers.

You will have the confidence and ability to inspire trust and support for the project as well as an ability to win over hearts and minds.

This job will involve occasional early mornings, evening and weekend working and visits to island schools.

Salary starting at

£19,602 to £21,236 per annum

Hours & contract information

Hours: Part time, 18.75 hours per week
Contract: Fixed Term - 31 January 2024
