Species and Habitats Senior Officer

Reference number: A5230220

Location: Bedfordshire

Would you like the opportunity to help facilitate the design and implementation of the RSPBs approach to global species recovery over the next decade? The Global Species Recovery Team are looking for a talented individual to help devise, construct, implement and report on an aspirational work programme to further the conservation prospects of over 100 of our identified priority species (both birds and 'all nature') in the UK and internationally.

By the end of 2020 we will have produced an agreed work programme which will require ongoing coordination to implement, including detailed annual reporting on progress. The successful candidate will have the ability both to see the 'big picture' whilst at the same time paying attention to detail. They will have exceptional skills in facilitation to bring disparate points of view to an agreed conclusion. An organised, logical and creative approach will be essential. The post will involve communication with staff at all levels within the RSPB, from project officers to the CEO, and with key individuals externally. A high level of skill in writing reports and delivering oral presentations to a variety or organisations will be required. At times, particularly during the annual reporting cycle in autumn, there will be pressure to meet deadlines. Additionally the role will involve provision of the secretariat function of the RSPB's cross-disciplinary expert teams, the Nature Recovery Groups.

The postholder will be responsible for the line-management of up to three staff. One of these will provide assistance with the coordination of the Nature Recovery Group network and reporting. The other two will be running projects designed to ensure a lasting and sustainable legacy for species which we have successfully recovered.
