RSPB Chichester Local Group Leader's Letter, December 2020: Notice of AGM and Other News

Hello everyone! I hope you're all keeping well and looking forward to the festive season, no matter how you're able to celebrate it this year. Hopefully, better times are not far away. It's certainly been a difficult year, and it has prevented us from running our usual programme of indoor and outdoor meetings, including our AGM, which we had been due to hold in the Spring. However, we have now decided to go ahead with the AGM for the year 2019/2020 on a postal and email basis, and we'd greatly appreciate the participation of all current Local Group Members to help us continue to run our activities in what promises to be a much more active 2021!

How to Vote in the AGM

We therefore attach the AGM Agenda, which outlines each proposal to be voted on. Also attached
are the Minutes of the last AGM, the Leader's Report, the Treasurer's Report and Annual Accounts, and last but not least a Voting Form. In order to vote, please read the Agenda and Reports, and then fill in the attached Voting Form as directed, and post it - or photograph it and email it - to the addresses below to arrive before the AGM date of Monday 11 January 2021. A Word file and PDF are available if you prefer, which you can request from the same email address.

Also, if you wish to raise any questions, please post or email them to the addresses to arrive before 11 January 2021. The Committee will meet on 12 January to complete the business of the AGM and discuss any issues raised by Members.

Please return your voting forms to: Carole Griffiths, Treasurer, RSPB Chichester Local Group, 21
Harberton Crescent, Chichester, West Sussex PO19 5NY, or email them to
chichesterbirds@gmail.com
Thank you!

In Other News!

And now to that other news! We have a number of new events coming up which we hope will interest you. Most excitingly, we will be starting a new programme of evening Zoom talks (at 7pm), starting on 17 December, and running through to at least the end of March. The programme is attached to this Leader's Letter - and includes a wide range of great speakers on all sorts of topics we think you'll find fascinating, including: nature writing, the Great Crane Project, rewilding and birds at Knepp, the White-tailed Eagle Project on the Isle of Wight, the birds of Antarctica, and more! The talks will be FREE to all RSPB Chichester Local Group Members, and £4 each to non-members. So if you haven't renewed your membership yet, have a look at the talks and see if we can tempt you! Places are limited, so please book your place in advance by emailing chichesterbirds@gmail.com.

We will also be running some online get-togethers for Local Group Members using Zoom,
at 3pm on Wednesday afternoons (starting 23 December), so we can stay in touch - where we'll discuss the latest news about birds, the RSPB, what's on TV, and sharing our latest birding tips and book reviews. Please do join us - again, please email chichesterbirds@gmail.com to book a regular place and receive more details.

Using Zoom on your computer or a mobile device is easy, but if you have any queries or need some advice on how to get started, then please do get in touch with me at the above email address or by calling on 07545 376074.

Finally, we're pleased to announce that we will finally be able to begin our guided birdwatching
walks again soon, starting with our traditional walk at Dell Quay after Christmas, on the morning of
30 December - with precautions and social distancing, of course. Places are limited - we will be
dividing attendees into two small groups of five plus a leader, at different start times (9.30 and
10.30am) - so please email or call to book your place as soon as possible. And watch this space for
announcements about more walks next year! Please stay in touch with all the latest Local Group news by visiting our website, and by following our Facebook page and Twitter account (see the addresses below). I will also be sending out a regular email with all the latest news to all current Local Group Members. If you do not wish to renew your Local Group membership, and no longer wish to receive information about us, including our emails and newsletters, then please do let us know. Many thanks for all your continuing support during 2020, and I very much look forward to seeing you all - whether on Zoom or out on our walks again - soon!

Merry Christmas, and here's to a Happier New Year!
Rob.
