Children birding at Titchwell Marsh

As many of you will know by now, Lyndon will be stepping down as Trips Organiser at the end of 2013. After twelve years in the post bureaucracy in the form of coaching rules and regs has finally beaten him and he has capitulated in the face of the eternal enemy! You will all appreciate how exceptionally lucky we have been to have had both Mike Stephens and Lyndon arranging trips for us over, at least, twenty-five years; how many groups can say that?

But now we have to look to the future and how, if we are to continue having trips, it is to be managed. I think it unreasonable to expect existing committee members to take on the task on top of what they already do, and so we are looking to Group Members to help with this. The alternative is that we cease to run trips, day or overnight, and this will greatly diminish the attraction of the Group and could lead to its eventual decline - something we all wish to avoid.

So, we need some positive action and I am asking all Group Members to consider whether you could help. We need a person to manage the day trips, which is fairly straightforward and would be done in conjunction with the Committee to decide venues. Also a small sub-group to organise two multi-day trips in Spring and Autumn, again with input from the committee. This division of labour will ensure the task is not onerous for any one person.

If you want to know more or to discuss further what is involved before deciding, please ring me or talk to me on at one of our meetings or on a trip.
