Over 100 people entered the RSPB’s caption competition for this photo of the four Chichester Cathedral peregrine chicks, taken when they were three weeks old, just before being ringed by the Sussex Ornithological Society.

“No! We have not seen the Queen’s Jubilee Carrier Pigeon...”, submitted by Adi Floyde, was chosen as the winning caption and Adi will receive a peregrine pendant by Chichester jewellers, Timothy Roe, worth £50 (http://www.timothyroe.com).

The competition was open for a week, covering the Jubilee Bank holiday, and entrants submitted their captions via the Chichester Cathedral peregrines facebook page.

Three runners up were also chosen, and each will each receive an ‘RSPB pocket guide to British Birds’. The runners up were:

Debbie Wiltshire, with “The chicks are shocked by mum’s announcement that the family is going vegetarian”.

Ian Andrews, with “You could have knocked – the place is a mess...”

Tracy Libby, with “I am Spartacus”

The Chichester Cathedral Peregrine Date with Nature project runs until 8 July and live footage from the nest camera is now being broadcast at:  http://www.rspb.org.uk/datewithnature/146937-chichester-cathedral-peregrines.

The RSPB will be based on the Cathedral Green every day until 8 July, helping visitors view the peregrine family using binoculars and telescopes. Entrance to the Cathedral and use of the equipment are free.

Online viewers can also read updates and see new photos and footage at the project’s Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/chi.peregrines and on Twitter: http://twitter.com/ChiPeregrines.
