RSPB Saltholme is inviting people to come and celebrate International Dawn Chorus Day on 1 May – expected to be the biggest and best yet - by joining them for an early morning walk to watch the sunrise and hear nature’s song.

Visitors to the nature reserve, near Stockton-on-Tees, will be able to take in sights and sounds rarely experienced, on a 2-3 mile walk around the reserve. The event will start at 4:30 am and finish at 7:30 am with a breakfast bun in the cafe. Experienced staff and volunteers will be on hand to help visitors identify birds and wildlife during the walk.

Visitor Experience Officer, Sarah Pearce, said: “Early mornings at Saltholme are magical. Our unique location provides the perfect setting to experience the amazing Dawn Chorus as the sun rises. It will be a morning to remember.”

It is advised visitors come dressed appropriately for the weather and time of day, with footwear suitable for walking on rough paths.

The event is £12 for members and £15 for non members. Spaces are limited to 30 people, so booking is essential.

Contact RSPB Saltholme on 01642 546625 or call in to reserve your place.
