Come and see us grey seals and our amazing array of neighbours along the stunning Wirral coastline. Our friends at the RSPB and Wirral Rangers will be hosting a series of events so you can get to know the inhabitants including peregrines, brent geese, massed waders and seabirds.

What’s more the landscape of this area is spectacular and event locations, which include Hillbre Island, Hoylake, Parkgate, Leasowe and Eastham provide spectacular views of sand, sea and big skies as well as views over the Welsh hills.

When can you see us?

We will be taking advantage of tides and wildlife opportunities as they arise, but our current events list can be found at the bottom of this page. You can also call the reserve on 0151 3538478 for more details.

What's at the site?

Facilities for viewing the vast array of wildlife on offer will be available at all sites, including telescopes and binoculars, but other facilities will vary according to site. Hillbre Island is a bracing walk across the sands with very few facilities on the island itself, whereas at Parkgate there is parking, public toilets and an array of refreshment facilities available.

How to find us

Please see the event listings below for full location details, but most sites are easily accessible by car around the Wirral. Hillbre Island is a 1.8mile walk from West Kirby Marine Lake across the sands of the estuary (allow at least 1 hour to make the crossing). Hoylake promenade is easily accessed off the A540/Meols Drive and A533/Market Street via the Kings Gap.

What should I bring?

Anything you feel you need for a nice day out on the coast - bearing in mind it's still chilly at this time of year. Some events on Hilbre Island will involve being cut off by the tide so food, drink and waterproof clothing is advisable.
