Sound Mirrors Open Day 2019

Saturday 13 July and Saturday 31 August

10am - 3pm

Price: £5 per adult. £2.50 per child. Free for RSPB members. CASH ONLY payments to be made at the Sound Mirrors.

RSPB Dungeness welcomes you to visit these unique historic monuments. Come and see what this fantastic place has to offer and get up close to our Sound Mirrors!
Come along for the day to have a wander around the site and talk to our staff and volunteers about what we are doing to give nature a home here. Why not spend the day surrounded in nature and history and afterwards head to our main Dungeness reserve where you can relax at the visitor centre with a cup of tea or an ice cream to round the day off nicely.

£5 per adult, £2.50 per child, £3.50 per student (with a valid student card). £12.50 family offer (2 adults, 2 children). RSPB members free, under 5’s free, dogs on leads welcome. Charges allow access to both the Sound Mirrors and our main reserve. Due to the remote location we can only accept cash payments at the Sound Mirrors.

Talks about the Sound Mirrors will take place at 11am, 12pm, 1pm and 2pm. Talks last approximately 30 minutes.

Please note that the Sound Mirrors site at Lade is separate and approximately 3 miles from the main entrance to RSPB Dungeness reserve.

Due to the fragile nature of the shingle habitat we ask you to please stick to the pathways and public footpaths. Please note that some of the pathways are made up of loose shingle and may be unsuitable for access by disabled visitors, particularly wheelchairs. The bridge to the Sound Mirrors is very narrow and we regret that wheelchairs and mobility scooters will be unable to cross it. The Dungeness reserve is accessible for wheelchairs and disabled badge visitors may drive to a few places around the trail. Please ask in the visitor centre if you require any assistance.

The nearest car parks (with toilets) to the Sound Mirrors is situated on Coast Drive (postcode: TN29 9PE). Please use these car parks and follow the signs to the Sound Mirrors. Please bear in mind that there is a reasonable walk over shingle to reach the Sound Mirrors from the road as they are situated in the centre of our nature reserve.

Bus service: Stagecoach bus number 11 - Ashford to Lydd on Sea. Stagecoach bus number 102 - Folkestone to Rye via Lydd-on-Sea.
Closest bus stops to the Sound Mirrors are located on Coast Drive and the Parade outside Taylor Road, Derville Road and Seaview Road. The bus will also stop outside the RSPB Dungeness reserve (Boulderwall Farm) on request.
