  • Good to hear on FK8.  Sad to hear on Perky when he appeared to be doing so well.

  • Thanks, Alan.  Very sad about Perky but fingers crossed for the rest.

  • Thank you Alan. The highs and lows of following these magnificent birds.

  • Good news experience helps

  • Perky isn't the only osprey to fall under the clutches of the great horned owl/eagle owl.  Two of Rob Bierregaard's (Ospreytrax) tagged birds are though to have done the same:  "Flow and Tommy are likely victims of Great-horned Owls."

  • Aberfoyle juvenile LH0 (640 on the Forestry Commission Scotland map) is now heading south, after his stopover in NE France. Yesterday he was passing Chambord on the Loire, which has a long-established osprey nesting colony. Probably no-one home this late in the season though.

  • Good evening all. Sad news about perky seems to have met his end at the hands of an eagle owl. Are they indigenous in Switzerland? There was talk of reintroducing them to Britain what would that mean to our precious hen barriers and our ospreys? They must have existed here before in the past. They are formidable birds !!

  • I'm not sure if this latest post from Roy Dennis on Jules has been posted or not.

On his website, Roy tells us 'Jules (Blue JV3) is an adult male osprey of unknown age who was caught and satellite tagged by Roy Dennis and Frank Law at Rothiemurchus Fishery on 13th September 2017. Our thanks to Julian Orsi and Rothiemurchus Estate'.
