I thought I better get this thread opened in preparation for this season.

I believe Chocoholix and Stingray (who I have met at LotL many moons ago) :-) are going to Loch Garten for Easter, it would be lovely if they could post the reports of their visits in this thread.
Looking forward to hearing all about it already :-)
Thank you for setting this up Mary, hopefully will make for good reading this year. Ian
I will transfer Birdie Num Num's report of her visit to Loch Garten, so that it is not lost in the DU thread.
I hope these are all in the right order, if not you can see the Original Post HERE
I went up to Loch Garten today, and Sod’s law I just missed the intruder incident.
It was busy, we got the last space in the car park, there also was a full size coach full of teenagers.
Sadly I don’t have much to report, well nothing more than has already been reported in the Daily Update,
Even the photos I took from the screen are not as good as the ones posted on the DU, but I will do a short report anyway.
I didn’t see the Male, (G) I think he was chasing the intruder away.
EJ was very sleepy, she kept shutting her eyes.
THE SEASON SO FAR
THE DAY SO FAR
A NEW SCULPTURE AND CANNOT REMEMBER THIS OSPREY WITH FISH BESIDE THE VIDEO SCREEN
EJ’s head just popping over the nest rim
THE BEAUTIFUL LADY HERSELF
THE PTZ CAMERA wasn't working in the visitor centre either, they were hoping to get it fixed soon, but whether it will be streamed they don’t know. Chris wasn’t working today. This was the view in the VC of the PTZ camera.
I also went to Loch Insh, the female was incubating but was low in the nest so couldn’t get a photo of her, the male flew in and was on the nest beside her, then he moved to a branch beside the nest.
Male on the nest
Sorry for not having much to report.
Thanks Mary. It's always great to get a report when someone visits LG.
Great photo from Loch Insh as well!
Hi Mary :-*, you always write such lovely reports. Thank you for the beautiful photos of our EJ, the VC and the Loch Insh male. I was there when I visited in April, I saw both on the nest. If I had been an hour earlier I wouldd've seen an intruding female and Green DY having an altercation (so I was told by someone I met along the path)
BTW, thank you so much for bringing my report that was in the April 20th DU to this thread.
Super report, Mary, thank you!!
Thank you, Mary, for a great report on a disappointing day, activity-wise. But you saw EJ, that's the main thing :-*
Copied from the Daily Update today.
I have just left the VC at 12.10, only popped in for a wee bit to see if EJ had come back.
Spoke to one of the Volunteers, and he said she hadn‘t been seen since she left this morning.
They used the PTZ cam to look for her but didn’t find her.
Even “The day so far board” is almost empty of comments.
Maybe as it is such a lovely day here EJ decided to take in some of the sights :-)
Edit, will add the photo of the board once I upload it from the camera.
The board didn’t even have when EJ left the nest, but the good old DUpdaters have it recorded :-)
The PTZ camera must work but still with text on screen.
A gorgeous day so EJ maybe off on a mystery tour :-)
I wonder what EJ thinks when she flies over Loch Morlich, is it Spain, is it Africa lol...
It looked particularly lovely today
Lovely report and snaps Mary, thank you. It'll probably be raining next week when I'm there!
Thank you, Mary.
A brief report of my visit to LG yesterday, May 24, 2018 (posted on the DU yesterday - I've added some photos)
MaryGK, Alison E, SheilaFE and I met up for lunch in Carrbridge before heading for LG. It was great meeting lovely Sheila for the first time and catching up with Mary and Alison. Unfortunately EJ was not there, nor George. We did see a big bird flying the direction of the nest and in the distance but it could have been a buzzard. When I got back home I looked for this bird in my recording but it must have been flying higher than the camera can show.
We waited and waited and no sign of any ospreys, no calls heard either. We were wondering where they all were. Last year there were so many of them around at the end of May.
It was also great meeting Les Carr at the VC. Yesterday he said he saw EJ perched on the Fish Perch but he could only see her back. He could not see if she had a fish. Thank you, Les, for finding the perch through the scope. This is where it is (really hidden in the small red circle) and the image through the scope.
EDIT: I found another photo of the Fish Perch in the Visits thread 2017 by Granny Smith
Here's a photo I took last year showing EJ on the Fish Perch.
Not an osprey, but cute, so cute...
This male Great Spotted Woodpecker posed on the feeder for me.
There were many siskins on the feeders too
As we were leaving, this other little fellow appeared on the feeder
Interesting coat, is it the spring moult?
I'm sorry I have no photos of EJ for you, hopefully next time.
Thank you, MaryGK, for the photo of the board in the DU today, which I forgot to take.
Thank you for your super report of our visit yesterday, Birdie. It was such a wonderful afternoon, meeting you for the first time and for seeing Mary and Alison again. The down side was that EJ decided not to show up. I ought to have gone back again today!!
A big thank you from me too Birdie for your fab report of our visit yesterday.
It was a lovely afternoon seeing yourself, Sheila and Alison again, it was such a shame EJ didn’t join us on this occasion.
With EJ not being there, it was so funny when we were looking for the fish perch, it took us long enough to find it, but I am sure in previous seasons it was much easier to see, it is almost obscured from the VC now, and not only the fish perch :-)
I hope you get to see EJ in the feather before she leaves this season Birdie.
I will add the “Season so Far” board for the record. Amended courtesy of Alison lol.
