Rainham Marshes

  • And it' 'Goodnight' from him and it's 'Goodnight' from me

It is now some time after 16:09 and there is not long to go but just time to add a couple more images from the last day of the year taken by Matthew Foakes.

    A very bright Chiffchaff

    and an obliging Reed Bunting

Don't forget that I am opening the reserve at 0730 tomorrow (yes I know it will be dark). Normal 1630 closing time (yes, it will also be dark then!)

  • ...and so another year ends

It is 16.09 on 31st December and we are closing up for the night on another year. It has been a fantastic one for many reasons and I will endeavour to put together a little summary at some stage.

Thanks for all the visitor support throughout the year and we ceratinly could not run this place without the enthusiasm shown by our faithful volunteers and staff.

Only a few hours and then I will be opening at 0730 tomorrow to start all over again...

Unboubtedly see some of your early birds there...

Oh and another Waxwing and a flyby Snow Bunting rounded off the year nicely!

    H ;o)

  • Bearded Travellers

Afternoon all... not seen the sun for days! Even gloomier today! Our Bearded Tits have been showing well today and I have found out that through a partial read of one of the rings that they are not from Sussex but are infact from Oare Marshes near Faversham in north Kent where four birds were ringed in the autumn. we have three ringed birds so it would be a nice thought to imagine that they are still together.

Also today, 2 Yellowhammers, an adult Little Gull, 14 Grey Plover and a Water Pipit.

Will update later if there is anymore news
