Rainham Marshes

  • Caught on the move

Basil Thornton was fortunate (or skillful!) enough to capture this male Reed Bunting just as he let go to take flight. A true moment captured!

  • A Butterfly Day

Whilst staring skywards this afternoonin teh vain hope that the White-tailed Eagle seen a few miles to the west and heading our way would actually appear we also noted quite a few new butterflies on the wing including many more Peacock and Small Tortoiseshell along with four species of White including our first Large and a smart male Orange Tip.

    Peacock by me....

    and one by Mark Hart

There were lots of hovering Bee-flies on the wing today especially on the outer loop of the woodland trail and there were lots more hoverflies around.  Got to sort out id of one nice one and will post over the weekend!

  • Easter Eggstravaganza! Are you feeling lucky??
