  • Fancy giving us a hand?

Fancy giving us a hand with a foreshore clearance with our Thames 21 partners on Friday 3rd March? More hands make light work!

  • A Bit Gusty...

There has been some wild weather over the last few days starting with the demented Doris and continuing with the grump Ewan today...

    Incoming today - Ivor Kerslake

Not much to report bird wise but the windy and wild conditions have resulted in some great photographic opportunities for those willing to go out!

Russ Sherriff captured some amazing shots of the Wigeon riding out the waves on Purfleet Scrape including a magical one where a ring of aerial water forms perfectly between the pair of ducks...

A one in a million shot...

A seriously annoyed and windswept Coot....

And today Mark Vale caught the birds being blown around too..

Wigeon, Teal, Shoveler and a Snipe

    A wisp of Snipe...

And I will leave you with a seriously ominous cloud heading across the City this evening... Tony O'Brien

  • Get good at gulls... a drop in workshop! This Saturday...

Get good at gulls... a drop in workshop!  Get a little help with your gull identification with our Gull Guys.  Look out for our Gull Guys in yellow tabards and hopefully get to spend some time checking gulls on the river and foreshore as they commute to and from the landfill.  Whether you are after some basic gull id help or after a bit more detail, this session will be for you.

Park at the Riverside Car Park opposite the Concrete Barges accessed off Coldharbour Lane and walk east along the footpath, or park at the reserve and walk along the river wall section of the reserve to the Concrete Barges (we recommend leaving yourself about an hour to get there).

Saturday 25th February 10am-12.30pm £1 donation to the event leader on site

Perhaps we will find a nice Mediterranean Gull (Dante Shepherd)

And there is a good chance of a Caspian Gull amongst the throngs of Herrings, Lesser and Great Black Backs...

These are four different Caspian Gulls from up river in Silvertown! (Jamie Partridge)

No need to book... look forward to seeing you on Saturday morning!
