How about a corvid thread?couple more tonight

  • Todays pics ....

  • Feeding time this morning.

  • lol Paul, what a great photo showing Hitchcock's thriller again and rather envious of that green grass as ours looks like dry moorland right now - without the raptors  !

  • Just showed Mick your pic PA, was gobsmacked & called it 'Corvid Central!'

  • 'Jumping Jayhosaphat' comes to mind for that last one aitch! Lol

  • Great pics Hazy, love the incoming Jay, great capture.

Paul your garden is unbelievable with all those corvids.   I like the fact that feeding away happily above all those birds is one little bird - sparrow maybe.

  • lol Wendy !       Corvids are such a unique group to have in the garden and can't help admire their clever behaviour and aptitude to work things out along with that typical boisterous behavour !       I'm afraid I have more pics from today   lol

starting with the handsome Earl the Crow who was only a few feet away from me - amazing for these ultra skittish birds ..... but he's used to me I guess and associates "that kind lady" with someone who throws out tit bits for him    lol

this juvenile Jay (one of four young) came for some mealworms I had scattered on the patio for the blackbird;  once again, this bird was less than two metres away from where I was sitting.

Jackdaw spied a piece of pastry  .............

a magpie was keeping watch for any stray mealies  !

    fluffy the juvenile again   lol

and to end, another jumping jay for Wendy    lol

We're going to have to start calling him His Gorgeous Earlness!  What a very handsome bird.

  • lol Clare,   he's a handsome fellow for sure in his pristine glossy feather coat;    must be all the treats he gets:   mixed suet/nuts/seed/cheese/pastry/fat-cake and peckers suet balls  !    plus the occasional tin of dog food and fresh chicken !

Not a great pic of him but his face is stuffed with berry fat-cake  lol

  • Deckchair out in the sun, surrounded by confiding birds, can't be bad Hazy:-)

lol Gaynor, methinks I should be opening as a reserve and include photographic experience days with the corvids (especially the Jays) to pay for all their food consumption  !!

  • Hazel, If you'll allow non-photographers, we'll sign up!  We can probably make it sometime next June or July--has to fit around a certain meet-up and volunteering--lol!

  • Watch out for the rush Hazy:-)

  • lol Ann and Gaynor,  kettle Quooker is always on for my forumates  ;)        Whilst I'm here I'm just testing out my photo upload as I've disabled Windows Edge in favour of Google Chrome   Firefox  !

    test pic via Google Chrome:

Yay,  working perfectly although Firefox still works better for me with other websites,     good riddance Win.Edge   lol
