Hollingworth Lake Heron/Young Crested Grebe 17-10-2017

  • Had to go out for a couple of hours seeing I get discharged today.

  • Nice - are they all the same young Grebe  or is there a successful brood?

  • There were two Bob and they swam together at times.

Our local ones ere unproductive this year - a combination of a new ( probably young) male and at least three nest rebuilds.

  • I know one nest failed here and I think they moved to part of the lake we can't see Bob.

  • Lovely shots, Jim. Good to hear that you're back out and about. I hope you are feeling well.

  • Great shots Jim and I imagine the trip out is just what you needed :)

  • Nice to see you out n about Jim, love the last shot.

  • Good to see that your enforced stay in hospital hasn't dampened your enthusiasm for getting out and about again, Jim. That last photo of the heron is a cracker.

The Great Crested Grebes on my patch have had a late brood after two failures. They've got three teenagers who are still pestering Mum and Dad for food.

  • I should imagine it was good to out and about again. Hope all goes well, now.

Lovely pics. There are still one or two stripy young grebes around locally, too, although old enough to fish for themselves, now.

  • Thanks guys it was nice to get out again and today I called up to Leighton Moss and got some nice pictures, they will be on another thread that I have just started.
