When I photographed this I assumed it was another Dingy Skipper of which I'd seen several at Warburg in the Chilterns. However, on closer inspection it looks more like a Grizzled Skipper. What do folks think?
Aye spot on for a Grizzled Tony according to my Butterfly app.
Never seen one but looking on the net I would say yes Tony.
Cheers Alan, good to have it confirmed. May I ask what app you use? It could be useful to take into the field.
It's this one Tony butterfly-conservation.org/.../irecord-butterflies.html
Thanks Alan, I've downloaded it
What a great app D, needless to say I have it too now, thanks!
Great pic TJ, wouldn't have had a clue!
You can also get a Grasshopper one www.brc.ac.uk/.../irecord-grasshoppers-mobile-app
Thanks D, got that now also! See it's from CEH where the Kestrel cam is (Kev & Kyra, I ask you!)
Got my moths app What's flying tonight in your area via a link from them on Twitter! Excellent, trawled through first 100 several times already seeking ID's !
What Moth app do you have Wendy?
Got it from here but the link was on CEH twitter site ... can't find it now as too far down the list but it's Moths flying tonight in your area ... Records with pics for ID!
Found it Wendy Ta...must try Moth trap now.
'Bout time too! Btw, you don't have to know all you trap, we love a challenge! Lol
See you on Moth thread ... soon!
My field chart from the FSC shows you have taken a lovely photo of the Grizzled skipper TJ, in fact your photo is better than theirs:-) These charts are pretty good and cheap too btw.
