Long shot I know, but I'm puzzling the identity of a bird which has been a regular visitor to my garden for a few weeks now. I'm pretty sure it's a finch owing to the shape of its beak, but it is a pale milky coffee colour all over, with no distinguishing marks. The beak itself is yellow and the bird is about the size of a Greenfinch.
I suppose it could be an escapee, but it seems quite happy and settled in the local environment, mixing happily with other birds of varying species, and it is clearly feeding well. Its movements are quite skittish and so far hasn't stayed still in one place long enough for me to get a picture.
Sounds interesting See gull, I can't help with id but maybe someone will come along soon and help.
