This question is not answered

We moved here in 2012. There were a very small number of sickly/weak cowslips in the lawn. I let the one that flowered go to seed and bought more seed to get a few new patches started, as well as supplement the existing patch. To cut a long story short, they've expanded and larger and larger areas of lawn are being left to grow until they've gone to seed. This year, a new flower has appeared in one of those sections. I think it's a pyramidal orchid but I'm not good with orchids. Anyone know if it is, or if they believe it's something else? Thanks in advance.

  • It  certainly looks like it could be Robbo, there's an Orchid pdf link www.nhm.ac.uk/.../orchid-observers-id-guide.pdf it says it has a vanilla scent.

  • Thanks Alan. I confess that I did consult that pdf before opening the thread.

I can't smell anything. Maybe it'll be more noticeable when it's fully open. One other thing is there aren't really any leaves "flat to the ground" as per pdf.
