Identify this

This is a mystery to me and the RSPB bird identifier. What is it?

This question is answered

Can someone please identify this bird for me?  I've used the identifier and it comes up with nothing, although I described an Oyster Catcher to it and it failed to identify that too.  I have trawled through lots of sites that picture all of the UK's geese, I'm assuming it is a goose without any luck.  I have a photo of it standing, it's legs look grey.  I can't even find that option on the identifier.

  • Lovely shot David

  • Yep, I've looked at the female eider duck, and I'm sure you're right Jenny.  Thanks Alan.  It might be the last I take.  I slipped on the rocks on my way back to the car and all my equipment ended up in a rock pool, oops!  I retrieved it but it's not working.

  • Oh dear David I hope you have insurance

  • If it's same as dropping a phone in water it may just have drained the battery, take it out and let it all dry out, hope you've not damaged it.

  • Yes, I'm hoping it's just the battery.  I looked up what to do and the article said that the battery can almost self destruct.  I'm not in a position to check my insurance until I get home tomorrow, nor trying to recharge the battery.  Fingers crossed.  Fortunately the SD card was undamaged because I got some amazing pics of Common Terns.

  • That's a beauty.

I think when you drop a phone in water it shorts/drains the battery.

  • I have no idea what you're talking about.  This thread shall self destruct in in 10.... 9..... 8....

  • LOL

  • I have checked online and I appear to be insured.  Fell off the table indeed!  ;)

  • Oh dear David, hope all is well with the equiptment.

  • Thanks Catlady, It looks ok, it didn't appear to have taken in any water, but we'll see when I charge the battery, if it will charge.  Not sure about the beauty is in the eye of the beholder comment, was it meant for another thread?

  • Hi David, that is my signature quote, it will show up on all my posts.

  • OK camera a write off and probably the lenses.  Now the daunting task of dealing with my insurers.
