Juvenile little owl or not?

This question is answered

Hi. I've been following 2 little owls in the local fields and barn and today saw this one. Very poor photo I know but I wondered if thoughts may be that its a juvenile. The adults appear to have a lot darker markings on the chest. Also attached a photo (again poor) from early in the year of the 2 adults.

  • Brilliant Alan, thought so, made my day.

  • Good to see all your hard work visiting them has paid off Bob.

  • Be nice to get a better shot. I guessed I couple of weeks back they may have a young when I heard a noise I didn' recognise in a tree next to the field and both adults were in view so it wasn't them. Don't like to get too close or spend too much time around there but will keep my eyes peeled in passing.

  • You may think pics are poor Bob but brilliant for me to be able to see a bird I otherwise wouldn't!

  • Thanks Wendy. Very exciting news confirmed by Alan. The little owls on my walk have always been dependable when I never see anything else. I've only ever seen one myself the last year so they are very special. To think there is one or more juveniles around the field and barn is fantastic.

  • Hopefully you will see more Bob & get pics to share!  Good luck!

  • Lovely for you Bob to find the youngster. As Wendy says, good enough photos for me. I use an iPad most of the time as I dont have fancy equipment, all the photos posted are appreciated.
