Photographed at SK261860 near Sheffield where Brown Hares, Mountain Hares and Rabbits are seen, in an area where we have Red Grouse, Lapwings and Curlews. This is adjoining managed Moorland and is above the tree line although there are trees fairly close by. There have been discussions locally and it's identity is still disputed. I believe though, from the shape of its head, size of its ears, length of its legs and size of the tail that it is a young hare and the colouring suggests a Mountain rather than Brown Hare let alone Rabbit. Can anyone help?
