Our 2013 programme has started

Our 2013 programme has started

And what a start we made. In 2012 we introduced our New year 'Big Day watch' We've enjoyed it so much we have decided to make it a regular fixture. An ideal way to start the new year, the aim is to get out early and try and see as many birds as we can find in a day in Liverpool. Out until dusk we visit as many local sites as possible. The event is well attended, up to 35 members joining us on our quest. This January our tally for the day ticked off 60 bird species

The RSPB Liverpool Local Group welcomes both members and non-members to all our events.

Eight indoor meetings are held during the year with a four month break during the summer months. The Indoor Meeting feature an illustrated talk on a topic of interest to those enthusiastic about wildlife issues. The talks are entertaining and informative with high quality photography
Held on the third Monday of the month, in the church hall of Mossley Hill Parish Church, (St. Mathew and St. James) at the junction of Rose Lane and Mossley Hill road. Meetings commence at 7.30pm and last about 2 hours with an interval for refreshments. Tea, coffee and soft drinks are available at the interval and this presents new members and visitors an excellent opportunity to meet existing members of the Group and to find out more about our activities. Admission charge of £1 applies.

We lead approximately 18 outdoor trips to bird sites each year and 2 Liverbird discovery and heritage cruises on the River Mersey during the summer. Most sites have free admission but some are dependent on membership and non-members may have to pay. Events are very seldom cancelled. If the weather is particularly poor it may be necessary for members to phone the leader in advance to check details - a phone number is given for every outdoor event. (A Cancellation email/website posting will be made whenever possible)
Unless otherwise specified, you do not need to be a member of the RSPB or a local group to join us at our events. Birdwatching experience is not necessary, as our members are always very willing ready to share their expertise with beginners. Spare Binoculars/access to telescopes usually available.
If you have any questions please call the contact number shown with the event details.
Stout footwear, warm waterproof clothes and packed lunches are recommended for field trips. Binoculars if you have them.
We hope that members will do their best to reduce car use by car-sharing as much as possible. Please phone at least a week before the trip if you wish to car share.

Our indoor meetings and fieldtrips are listed on our events page, and are also now listed on the websites and
