We hold monthly indoor meetings between September and April and also run a series of FREE local guided walks - usually on the weekend following our meetings. These walks usually last between two and three hours at a very leisurely 'birdwatching pace'. You do not need to be a member of the RSPB to join us on our events, and birdwatching experience is not necessary. If you have any questions please call 01274 582078 or e-mail

The Women who Saved The Birds - an llustrated talk by Tessa Boase CHANGE OF DATE

Location: At Home!
We will send a link via our e-mailing list. If you would like a link, e-mail

Tessa is the author of 'Etta Lemon: The Woman Who Saved The Birds'.
This summer marks a century since the Importation of Plumage (Prohibition) Act was passed
in 1921, which prevented bird species being wiped out for the plumage trade. Approximately
61 bird species, including great crested grebes and little egrets, were threatened with
extinction because of this lucrative trade and may have been lost if not for our founding ladies
(Emily Williamson, Eliza Philips, Catherine Hall, Hannah Poland, Winnifred Duchess of
Portland and Etta Lemon).
This event is run by RSPB Airedale & Bradford Local Group. If you would like to 'attend' the meeting, please e-mail abrspb(at) and we will send you a link.
We have had to change the date of this meeting from the usual Friday night. We hope that you are still able to attend.
