We went to Marbury Country Park, only a short distance away. Whilst waiting in the car park for the pay and display machine to be opened we saw a few woodland birds, the highlight being a flock of redwings and a flock of long-tailed tits. We walked round the mere and great wood only seeing a few birds with 1 wigeon and a curlew amongst gulls on the far bank. There was no sign of any woodpeckers or the wintering bitten.

After lunch we went down Marbury Lane to Neuman's Flash which held a large number of wildfowl and lapwings. Amongst the lapwings were 8 snipe, 2 curlew and 7 golden plover. As we walked back 2 buzzards flew over our heads bringing the species total to 44. After reaching the car park we set off home earlier than planned in brilliant sunshine.
