Apart from the usual wildfowl, waders and gulls, the only highlight was a kingfisher that flew to the lake and commenced fishing.

We set off for RSPB Marshside with a brief stop at Wells Road looking for the twite flock and both common and jack snipes. We achieved all 3 species by wading through the marrion grass just above the high tide mark.

We took lunch at Marshside which was quiet due to the drainage ditches having been recently dredged but
we did see a merlin and peregrine. By walking along the coast road we picked up little and great white egrets and a flock of pink-footed geese.

Wondering where to go for the last 2 hours we decided on Martin Mere and there we got the usual whooper swans, ruff and buzzard. After watching the swan feed we set off home with a total of 69 species.
