Death of former Bromley YOC leader Gerry Rainey

Gerry Rainey was an enormously popular Bromley YOC leader who's influence led to a lifetime's interest in birds and natural history and even to careers in nature conservation for for those lucky enough to have been YOC members at the time he was leader.

His funeral service will be held at 2.30pm on Friday 17 Dec in the chapel in the crematorium grounds, Honor Oak Crematorium in Southwark, London SE23.

Winter 2010 Photographic Competition

The entrants for the Winter 2010 photographic competition were of a very high standard and much admired by the judging members. This is a fun competition and gives everyone a chance to show off their photographic skills.

The winners of the competition were:

Patterns in Nature - Radiating columnar jointing, Echo Cliffs, North-east Iceland - Margaret Rusbridge

Summer Birds in Britain - Nightingale at Bough Beech - David Linstead

Up, up and Away (birds that winter in Britain, but breed elsewhere) - Redwing in a snowflurry- Jim Irving

Bird Behaviour - Pre-mating display of Australasian Gannets, North Island, New Zealand - Margaret Rusbridge

Other British Wildlife - Migrant Hawker, Oare Marshes - David Linstead
