Birding under lockdown in London: A home and garden bird survey

Birding under lockdown in London: A home and garden bird survey

We have used a poll in our Members Facebook Group to conduct a survey of birds our members have seen in or above their gardens or from their windows during the Covid 19 lockdown.

The poll covered the period from 23rd March to the 10th June. Thus species could be residents, summer visitors or passage migrants. 31 members took part and 51 species were reported.

Four species tied for first place, seen by all participants - blue tit, great tit, magpie and blackbird. Robin was narrowly beaten into 5th place. We have posted a short video presentation on our Facebook page. Click the link to view. To read Czech Conroy's full report click 'download file'.
