Forty two of us went to Paxton Pits where we saw 70 species of birds altogether. Other wildlife seen by some included a grass snake (see photo), a muntjac deer and a stoat. One lucky person saw a turtle dove. Great day out.

Catherine commented,'Really great trip yesterday to Paxton Pits - fabulous light over everything from beautiful grey-and-white spring clouds in a blue sky. Great for photos! A delight to listen to a nightingale singing very close to me and being answered by one further away. Fun to see the cormorant colony in the trees the other side of one of the lakes with big chicks sitting up in their nests way up in the trees.'
