RSPB Inversnaid nature reserve

Grosvenor Park Art Sculpture Project 2019

We will be at the annual Grosvenor Park Art Sculpture Project. This event has been organised by Cheshire West and Chester Council. It takes place from 2 pm on Friday 21 June.

When we had a YOC group (now Wildlife Explorers), we built and erected around 30 birdboxes in Grosvenor Park. Birdboxes have also been erected in an around the Cathedral.

As part of the project, there is an exhibit to mark 130 years of the RSPB and 50 years of RSPB Local Groups, local artist Sarah Gallagher- Hayes has been asked to build a series of bird sculptures which represent endangered, iconic and familiar birds that can be seen on the River Dee.

The project will involve 4 large bird sculptures being built from willow.

Underneath the sculptures, the floral displays will mimic the water of the Dee running through the Cheshire Plains using a mix of colourful annual bedding plants.

Sarah has exhibited at the Chelsea flower show, RHS Hampton court, Glasgow City centre and an array of animal and reptile sculptures at Chester Zoo, and we are very excited to have her working with us on the project.

We will take pride of place in the central flower beds in Chester's Historic Grosvenor Park.
