Two cars set off independently on the RSPB Croydon Local Group's last weekend outing of the year, to Arundel and The Burgh. Although not part of the outing, while waiting at Mitcham Junction there were about 50 Jackdaws gathered in one tree, a Kestrel perched on a lamp post and over 1,000 Ring-necked Parakeets flew off from Mitcham Common. A few Buzzards and Kestrels were seen as we drove down towards Arundel, where 8 of us eventually started the outing at Swanbourne Lake. More...

This was the RSPB Croydon Local Group's first outing to Farnham Heath. 12 of us gathered in the car park at the Rural Life Centre. My original intention was to walk round the green trail and take lunch half way round. As the weather threatened to reach temperatures of over 30 degrees we agreed to return to the cars for lunch rather than lug it around on our backs. More...
