A friendly group from Dorking area interested in birds and nature more broadly. The group organises a number of events including; walks at weekend and mid-week as well as interesting talks and meetings with a range of interesting speakers. These talks are currently arrange on-line due to the covid.

Mary Braddock will take us on a visit to one of France's best kept secrets with a talk entitled The Colour Magic of La Brenne, a visit to this rural part of France, interspersed only by the 2.000 lakes that help create a haven for colourful orchids, butterflies, dragonflies and birds: Wryneck, Red-backed Shrike, Black Redstart, Serin, Hoopoe, Golden Oriole, Nightingale and Cirl Bunting are widespread and common here.

Mary Braddock will take us on a visit to one of France's best kept secrets, the Parc natural régional de la Brenne, located in the Indre département of France, east of Poitiers and south of Tours in a rural and unspoilt part of the country. The area is interspersed with more the 2.000 man-made lakes (traditionally used for fish farming) that help create a haven for colourful orchids, butterflies, dragonflies and birds: Wryneck, Red-backed Shrike, Black Redstart, Serin, Hoopoe, Golden Oriole, Nightingale and Cirl Bunting are widespread and common here.

Evening Zoom Meeting - A talk by Ange & Dave Putland on 'Dinobird' - How birds evolved from dinosaurs & learned to fly

A Chinese fossil suggests that some feathered dinosaurs flaunted glamorous getups to rival the colourful displays of modern birds ! Caihong is a chicken-size dinosaur with the earliest known iridescent feathers. This newly discovered Dino Bird sported really flashy feathers.
