A friendly group from Dorking area, including Bookham, Leatherhead, interested in birds and nature more broadly. The group organises a number of events including; walks at weekend and mid-week as well as interesting talks and meetings with a range of interesting speakers. These talks are currently arrange on-line due to the covid.

Take M25 and M20, leaving M20 at J10 and head south on A2070 then south west on A259 to Rye. Leave Rye on A259 and turn south on outskirts of town down Harbour Road (signposted Rye Harbour). Weekend Walk - Sunday 16th January 2022 - Farlington Marshes

Location: Farlington Marshes (OS Map 196 - SU679044). Take A3 towards Portsmouth until reaching the coast and here take A27 west. After about a mile leave A27 at junction signposted Southsea (A2030). This will bring you to a large roundabout. Almost immediately on your left, take entrance to reserve. Park near end of track which runs parallel to A27. No facilities at reserve, so use hotel/garage north of A27/A2030 roundabout.

Monthly Evening Meeting - Friday, February 18th, 2022 - The Birds of Trinidad & Tobago by Brian Nobbs

Location: Dorking Christian Centre

We welcome back Brian Nobbs from RSPB Sevenoaks, who will give us a talk on the Birds of Trinidad & Tobago. These islands are only a few miles off the coast of Venezuela, giving a flavour of South America but with a Caribbean beat. We'll also visit Saint Lucia, in the Eastern Caribbean, famous for a pair of dramatically tapered mountains, the Pitons on its west coast, with volcanic beaches, reef-diving sites, luxury resorts and fishing villages, but also with 6 endemic birds.

Weekend Walk - Saturday 26th March - Titchfield Haven NNR

Location: (OS Map 196 - SU535023). Leave M27 at J11. Turn left on A27, signposted Gosport, towards Fareham. Continue along A27 ignoring signs to Fareham. With Fareham town centre on your right, from left hand lane follow signs to Titchfield and Sarisbury flyover. At station roundabout take the first exit towards Southampton, Titchfield and Sarisbury on A27. Follow A 27 over two sets of traffic lights and about a mile from the station roundabout, turn left at the 3rd set of traffic lights signposted Stubbington and Hillhead. This is by the Oast and Squire pub and is Peak Lane. At next roundabout take the second exit (straight over) and proceed to Stubbington. At next roundabout turn left (1st exit) on B3334 to Hillhead, Lee on Solent and Gosport. At next roundabout straight over towards Hillhead and Lee on Solent. Take next right into Bells Lane signposted Titchfield Haven. Bells Lane becomes Crofton Lane and at next mini roundabout go straight over following Crofton Lane as it bears right. Go past the Osbourne View pub and bear left into Cliff Road. After about 0.5 miles park by sea wall beyond visitor centre. Meet at 10am at visitor centre. There is an entry charge.

Weekend Walk - Saturday 9th April - Oare Marshes NNR

Location: (OS Map 178 TR013648). From J7 of M20 head north east on A249 towards Sheerness. Take M2 heading east towards Canterbury. Leave M2 at J6 heading north on A251 towards Faversham. Turn left on A2 towards Sittingbourne then right on B2045 to Oare. Follow signs to Oare and Harty Ferry. Park at end of Harty Ferry Road. There is a parking charge - weekends £3.50.
There are no toilets. There are toilets in Sainsbury's Supermarket on B2045 near Oare.

A guided walk around this popular reserve which is managed by Kent Wildlife Trust and is important for migratory, overwintering and breeding wetland birds.

It consists of 81 hectares of grazing marsh with freshwater dykes, open water scrapes, reedbed, saltmarsh and seawall.

Take the A24 south, turn left onto the A272 then right onto the the A281 to Henfield. In Henfield take the A2037 (signposted Shoreham) and after a mile turn left to park at Woods Mill Nature Reserve, Toilets on site. Led by Marilyn Freed.
