Weekend Walk - Farlington Marshes

Location: Farlington Marshes (OS Map 196 - SU679044). Take A3 towards Portsmouth until reaching the coast and here take A27 west. After about a mile leave A27 at junction signposted Southsea (A2030). This will bring you to a large roundabout. Almost immediately on your left take entrance to reserve. Park near end of track which runs parallel to A27. No facilities at reserve, so use hotel/garage north of A27/A2030 roundabout. Meet at 10am. Led by Glenn Carmichael and Val Lambert.

Farlington Marshes walk. Flat walk around the marshes, break for lunch, (do bring a packed lunch). We usually get a good mix of birds on the marshes, the reed beds and across Portsmouth harbour.

Weekend Walk - RSPB Cliffe Pools

Location: Saturday 23rd February 2019 Cliffe Pools RSPB Reserve (OS Map 178 - 723755). From J1 of the M2 take A289 north east towards Grain, then B2000 to Cliffe. Before you enter Cliffe village take the second left after the round stone Cliffe village sign into Rectory road. Turn right at the next T junction and after 600 metres turn left into Salt lane. Continue along Salt lane until the road bends sharply to the right - the car park is on the left just past the bend. There are no toilets here but there are some next to the Six Bells in Cliffe. leisurely walk around the Cliffe Pools reserve, along the banks of this part of the Thames. usually really good for winter birds and can be pretty cold!

Location: Sunday 3rd March 2019 - Pagham Harbour - for winter birds (OS Map 197 - SZ856965). From A27 Chichester bypass take the B2145 signposted Selsey. One mile after the village of Sidlesham you will see the reserve signpost on the left. There are toilets at the reserve. Led by Marilyn Freed.

Weekend Walk - Titchfield Haven reserve

Location: Saturday 27th April at 10 am- Titchfield Haven (OS Map 196 - SU535023). Leave M27 at J11. Turn left on A27, signposted Gosport, towards Fareham. Continue along A27 ignoring signs to Fareham. With Fareham town centre on your right, from left hand lane follow signs to Titchfield and Sarisbury flyover. At station roundabout take the first exit towards Southampton, Titchfield and Sarisbury on A27. Follow A 27 over two sets of traffic lights and about a mile from the station roundabout, turn left at the 3rd set of traffic lights signposted Stubbington and Hillhead. This is by the Oast and Squire pub and is Peak Lane. At next roundabout take the second exit (straight over) and proceed to Stubbington. At next roundabout turn left (1st exit) on B3334 to Hillhead, Lee on Solent and Gosport. At next roundabout straight over towards Hillhead and Lee on Solent. Take next right into Bells Lane signposted Titchfield Haven. Bells Lane becomes Crofton Lane and at next mini roundabout go straight over following Crofton Lane as it bears right. Go past the Osbourne View pub and bear left into Cliff Road. After about 0.5 miles park by sea wall beyond visitor centre. Meet at 10am at visitor centre. There is an entry charge. A walk around the reserve at Titchfield Haven, well worth a visit. We always get some good birds when we visit.

Weekend Walk - Rye Harbour

Location: Rye Harbour (OS Map 189 - TQ942190). Take M25 and M20, leaving M20 at J10 and head south on A2070 then south west on A259 to Rye. Leave Rye on A259 and turn south on outskirts of town down Harbour Road (signposted Rye Harbour). Go to end of road, turn right to park in car park. Meet at 10am. There are toilets nearby. Led by John and Sue Burge.

A walk around Rye Harbour. A small friendly group will take a stroll round the reserve, there are always some really good birds on the water, the shingle and out over the sea.
