Dundee local group members' holiday record

Dundee local group members' holiday record

Group members Philip and Sheila spotted a warbler flitting about on the ground on the first day (25th. Oct) of their holiday in Mexico as they walking around the grounds of their hotel. Sheila spotted it and and Philip took a few photos. The wing pattern and yellow markings were quite distinctive but they couldn't identify it even when they went back to their room and looked in their book. The following day they had booked to go out with a local bird guide, Luis, so showed him the photos. Much to their surprise, he couldn't identify it either. He went through his book and eventually concluded that the only bird it could be was Audubon's warbler. The odd thing was that it shouldn't have been there and Luis thought it might be some sort of record. He took the photo away to check it out. On their second trip with him he confirmed that it was Audubon's warbler and that it was only the second record for the whole of Yucatan and the first record for Quintana Roo State where they were staying. They are going to send him the photos, and he will get the record filed properly.
