Funny Duck

Funny Duck

Carole and David Jode recently (6th March) encountered a very interesting and unusual duck. Carole and David wrote

"Attached is a picture taken by us at Blatchington Pond in Seaford on the 6th March. This pond is normally only inhabited by a few mallard.

In this duck obviously there are a good deal of pintail genes and the most common pintail hybrid is male mallard x female pintail (but they normally look far more like a mallard than a pintail) so we think that this could be a male pintail x female mallard.

Apparently wigeon x pintail and gadwall x pintail also occasionally occur."
