Skagen Bird Observatory, Denmark

Peter Denyer has sent us an update from Denmark, where his Skagen Bird Observatory hosted their annual bird festival, a much smaller version of the Rutland Water event.

There was a good display of raptors over the observatory itself, including common, honey and rough-legged buzzards, besides white-tailed eagle and black kite. Smaller birds included icterine warbler and red-backed shrike.

On the final evening of the event, they held a barbecue. But just as it started, a report of a rare Iberian chiffchaff having been seen a few miles away. Peter went off to investigate, but with mixed results. He saw the bird, but he missed his dinner? More news on his ringing project to follow.
