Saturday Walks 2014: Cuckmere Valley

After a very windy (force 9) and wet night, with flooding everywhere I did not do the usual walk.

Five members came along and met at the Seven Sisters Country Park car park. It was still a little windy with some scattered showers so we decided to have a gently stroll to West Dean through the woods and back along the road.

A lovely lot of Snowdrops were out by the pond with nice views of a song thrush and blue tit over the water in the willows, as well as a robin sitting on a bench.

We scanned the meadows from the road and saw wigeon, peewit, Canada geese, a flock of mixed gulls, a row of four little egrets and four grey herons sheltering by the hedge. We then headed back to the car park just before it started to rain. In all we totalled 20+ species of birds.
