Saturday Walks 2014: Bullock Down

10 members came along for a gentle stroll over the downs on a sunny but windy day, at least it was dry. The walk started at Beachy Head centre and took us over Bullock Down to Shooters Bottom and back along the cliffs (not getting too close to the edge!).

There were many skylarks singing along the walk, with a few meadow pipits and a nice view of a buzzard. At Shooters Bottom we found a pair of stonechats on the top of a blackthorn bush, with chaffinch and dunnock singing. We also saw a peregrine that flew over.

We saw over 20 species of birds, as well as six tortoiseshell butterflies with cowslips and violets out, in all a lovely stroll.
