David Lindo is the Urban Birder. He has passionately promoted the virtues of birding in the urban environment at every opportunity, and especially through frequent articles in the birding press and on his appearances on television and radio. He was brought up in London and has been a birder all his life. His first book, The Urban Birder, chronicled his transformation from baby birder to fully-fledged superstar of the urban birding world.

Half Day Bespoke Safari around the Knepp Re-Wilding Project. Our expert ecologist and guide will lead us at a gentle pace and there will plenty of time to take in our astonishing wildlife.

The 3 hour guided walk is also the best way to listen to bird song and spot our specialities like common and lesser whitethroat, yellowhammer, goldfinch, linnet and bullfinch. In May there is a good chance of hearing nightingales and turtle doves - some of the rarest birds in Britain.

Maximum number for this trip is 15 people so please register your interest as soon as possible. We will be seeing areas on the Knepp estate not normally open to members of the public. Refreshments included.

Outdoor Field Trip to Stodmarsh NNR.
Stodmarsh National Nature Reserve (NNR) is just outside Canterbury near the A28 and just next to the Grove Ferry Picnic Site which has parking and toilet facilities. Visors are asked to keep dogs on leads. The reserve is owned by Natural England and managed for wildlife and visitors. It covers a square mile of internationally-important reed beds, fens, ditches, wet grassland and open water, which provide an ideal habitat for breeding and wintering birds, invertebrates and rare plants. This site is especially important for bittern, marsh harriers and the shining ramshorn snail, which are rare across Europe; as well as water voles, which are rare in England.

An illustrated talk by Chris Ward Wildlife Lecturer & Photographer. We are constantly learning more about our 'familiar' garden birds through research and new scientific techniques.

Chris will be able to furnish us with loads of interesting facts and disprove some of the myths. He is an experienced wildlife lecturer and currently gives about 120 talks a year and has visited over 400 different clubs, societies and groups. Being a first class photographer you can expect the images he shows to be outstanding.
