40 years an RSPB Volunteer!

40 years an RSPB Volunteer!

Jenni worked at John Dickinson's Home Park Mill, as did a Peter Lathwell, but joined Rank Xerox when the Mill closed in 1980. Both Jenni and Peter shared an interest in photography, and when Peter became involved in the newly formed Hemel RSPB Local Group in 1975 he persuaded Jenni to come along. It wasn't long before she was on the committee and the rest is history as they say. Peter became Group Leader soon after the group was formed, followed by Ann Farrer in 1989. Jenni was a great support to Ann, but subsequently for ten years to Paul Green and then another 10 years to Ian Wilson! Despite the daunting prospect of succeeding Peter and then Ann, throughout Paul's and subsequently Ian's terms of office, Jenni was a constant and reassuring guiding presence. Jenni still books the monthly speakers, sends reminders and thank you letters to them, and recently with Marion took over the provision of refreshments at the monthly meetings. Jenni has always been a source of sound advice and support throughout her 40 years of volunteering. We look forward to working with her for many more years to come.
