Despite the weather forecast we had blue skies and just one shower whilst on the reserve.

63 species were spotted with many warblers including chiffchaff which were all around the reserve. Song thrushes were in full flow and blackbirds were mimicking them!

There were many gorgeous colours to be seen especially the fleeting flash of the bright red chest of a bull finch and the dainty little grebe and teal. Close up views of 6 reed buntings busy around the feeder which also had fleeting visits from marsh, coal, long tailed, great and blue tits.

we saw lovely banks of cowslips and primrose looking great in the bright Spring sun.

To cap it all, a red kite was spotted sitting in a tree on our return to Hemel.
