Sea View,. Littlehampton and RSPB Pulborough Brooks

The last outing was a shared car trip to Sea View, Littlehampton and Pulborough Brooks on Saturday, April 22. Pulborough Brooks is set in the sheltered Arun Valley within the South Downs National Park. The Visitor Centre and reserve is open all year and boasts a great variety of habitats including wetlands, woodland, and heathland. It is famed from April onwards for its nightingales, several of which were heard singing, but also seen and photographed by several members. Being early spring, warblers such as chiffchaff and blackcaps were very vocal, but difficult to see in the developing vegetation along the sunny hedge lined nature trails and ponds. Other highlights amongst the 50+ species seen included linnet, long tailed tits with caterpillars and a large number of turnstones at Sea View.
