About us

The RSPB Highland Group was formed in 1987 to support the work of the RSPB in the Highlands. We have over 129 members. We run a series of field trips with one a month throughout the season plus the occasional Thursday trip. Indoor meetings are held on the last Thursday of the month from September to April.

Several of our members volunteer as wardens at Loch Ruthven, home of the slavonian grebe and Tollie red kites in Ross-shire. Other members volunteer for general work parties and web counts.
In the past our Bird Booklet '52 Bird watching sights in the Highlands' raised more than 10,000, but now our work is beginning to bring ourselves up to date and provide the booklet (updated) in the form of a mobile phone application.
As a group we enjoy showing new members the best bird watching spots in the Highlands and to provide an interesting and informative indoor programme. We are a friendly and informal group of people who give everyone a warm welcome, novice and expert alike.
